Salary & Tax Guide

1. How is taxable income calculated?

Taxable income is computed as your Gross Monthly Salary plus any taxable allowances, minus pre-tax social security or NSSF contributions. The income tax rate is then applied to this taxable income amount.

2. What is the difference between Gross and Net Pay?

Gross pay is your total earnings before any taxes or deductions are removed. Net pay (take-home pay) is the amount you actually receive after income tax, social security contributions, and any other approved deductions have been applied.
